So JonnyB and I removed the rear axle from the project jeep. And it was a pain. It was all really rusty.



We ran out of oxygen for the torch and then we found a angle grinder but then I chipped the wheel and it all fell apart.



And then we finally just used a socket set to undo it. The springs exploded open, that was funny.



We almost died.



I had to drill this out of this morning just to get the hard top off. That might have taken longer than getting out the rear axle. (not really)


A while ago I started gutting the interior so I could spray the inside down with bedliner. And I'm gonna do a very annoyingly difficult custom dash with all metal and nice new gauges. All of this is only possible cause Jon Broadbent walked me through it.

I decided to go with a ford 9in in the rear and i'm gonna try and find a dana 44 for the front. here's a used 9in in parts. I've barely begun restoring it.

Here are the axle shafts and the ring and pinion and some sort of locker are in the bucket.

The housing looks pretty ok but the third member was shot. So says JonnyB
