So I was driving the other the other day and I happened to be on a pile of sand and you know I gave the jeep some gas and sure enough I get alot of tire spin. I rode it out. Eventually the tires caught and all I heard was a big clunk in the rear. Today I try and pull out of my driveway and I hear what sounds like a sledge hammer to my jeep.... I give the jeep a little gas... nothing. So I blew out some of my spider gears today. what a pain... oh well. I hope to have the project jeep on the road in a few weeks or months. depends on this weather..... and my electrical knowledge.

So after 20min of tapping, we had a test run. Just to know if we were doing it right. We boiled down like a quart of sap to make like a tablespoon of syrup. I'm pretty sure it's maple syrup... either way it tasted great. We just boiled it, that was pretty much it. I put it in the freezer for a few minutes so it would cool down and act like syrup and not be so liquidy. At that point I realized I had homemade cheese, homemade beef jerky (two flavors), and homemade maple syrup in my fridge. I need to get out more.

Today Alex came over and we tapped 4 sugar maple trees for a total of 6 taps (at least we think they're sugar maples). It was super easy. Paul had the taps. We just drilled holes in a few trees tapped this little thing into it and out came sap. It was surprisingly simple. Probably the most ghetto maple syrup tapping can get. We didn't even bother to take the labels off.

I've worked at a couple places before, I've had a few jobs. I've had a few bosses. Bosses are weird. Bosses only care about how you work and perform, they don't care about your personal life. They really only want to use you, and not always in a bad way. In the way you want to get used to I guess. It's an give and take relationship. They want to pay you as much as they need to, no boss really wants to give you more pay than you've earned. At least not without ulterior and mostly company specific motives. A bonus to make sure you like the place and keep working there. Nothing particularly involved with who you are. On top of that they don't want you to get hurt on the job so they don't have to pay you, yes because they care but other reasons too. They don't care if you like to bike and most certainly don't care if you bike more. I mean that's kinda what it means to be a focused boss.

It helps me rest to know that God wants to bless us. He wants to give me gifts cause He loves me. Not cause he has to, but because he actually wants to. His only real motive is love. He doesn't want me to hurt because he's looking out for what's actually best for me and gives me strength and tons of support when the pain is helpful. I guess God doesn't only care about "ministry" I mean he definitely cares about whether or not people come to know Him in spiritual maturity. I mean after all that's truly what has any worth. Everything else sorta is dull compared to him. But he did create me to live in this world enjoying the things that it has in it. Like orange juice and guitar and intimacy. Like snowfall and cooking and stories. Like games and kindness and sleep. Like all the good things and blessings he's given us is still part of his will. He wants good stuff for us. The physical and spiritual stuff he has created. He wants us to love "ministry" but he can still want us to like life as well. He cares about everything, He cares about our entire life. He's not like a corporate boss, he cares if I bike more.

I was talking to a friend today. We started talking about marriage mostly by accident. She's scared of marriage. I get it. I'm not particularly scared of marriage per say. I'm afraid of someone not loving me after we get married, and all that goes with that. I'm afraid of someone I've committed to no longer feeling the need to stay committed to me, or at least dealing with their own heart as it has moments of weakness. I'm mostly afraid of caring for someone alot and them not caring much about me and caring more about someone else. Or just hiding things from me? Not being open? Intimacy is a weird bag. It is very reassuring to know that no matter what I bring to the table, intimacy with God is always safe. I'm pretty sure that He can help us with our fear of intimacy as well. I guess there's no real reason to fear marriage and intimacy but all the more reason to depend on God to help us through our failures. Maybe marriage is a covenant between two people saying they want intimacy with each other and desperately need God to get them there. Who knows. Marriage is weird.
I suppose trudging through mud to get somewhere special makes you need the hose to clean you off all the more.

I almost completely disassembled the harp. Sanded the frame and repainted it a beautiful ivory. I replaced like 20 pickups cause they went bad. Now it's sanding each tine to restore it and arrest the corrosion. I need to order tine #5 but considering how fragile they are, I'm gonna reinstall all the tines first just so i don't have to pay shipping twice if I break one. Then I need to adjust the tine heights and pickup depths. Then finally retolex the top cover and install all the corner pieces and buckles. I don't think i'm gonna use the legs, they're weak anyways, I'll just use a regular keyboard stand. The ivory frame sure looks nice.

Prepping this calzone case to be a road case for my guitar amp head.

drill out the rivets (I drill them till they have super thin walls and then pop them with a lot of pressure and a butter knife, only cause I don't own a chisel p.s. all my knives are dull)

pop the divider out, remove all the foam.

I'm gonna build a divider for the case that looks like and uppercase H on it's side. that way i don't have to use rivets, cause i don't own a rivet machine.

then buy foam online or at home depot and just line the thing with foam and spray glue.

seems like it'll work fine.

Put 10lbs weight on the cheese for 15 min.

Flip and put 20lbs weight on the cheese for 12 hrs.

Leave out for 3-5 days for the cheese to form a nice rind. keep flipping

Ok so I went to bed at 3am last night because I was making cheese. But this morning I get to enjoy some of the fruits of my labor. This is whey ricotta cheese on Ezekiel 3:9 bread. I put oregeno pepper and rosemary into the ricotta. It tastes really good.

Cook the whey at 190 degrees until the curds separate, (use the whatever squeezes out of the cheese too) strain the whey and curds, add seasonings to the curd. eat the next morning for breakfast and feel like a capable human being.

tie the three corner of the cheese cloth around the one corner and let drain for one hour (as seen above, these are the fun pictures, there's alot more that goes into this that looks fairly boring)

pour the drained curds into a bowl an break them up into walnut sized pieces and add 1tbls of cheese salt (non iodized sea salt will do)
